During the FARMBIRD kick-off in Workum, partners, farmers, and stakeholders stepped out of the meeting room and into the landscape that truly matters.
The field excursion under the guidance of Jeroen de Vries to the Workumerwaard offered a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the environment where innovation meets practice. A showcase by Campus Fryslân - University of Groningen BirdEyes and Bond Friese VogelWachten on tracking, acoustic and drone monitoring to better understand and protect meadow birds. But most importantly, it’s where collaboration comes to life.
Farmers, researchers, volunteers, and policymakers walked the same fields, shared perspectives, and connected knowledge to real-world challenges.
Because protecting farmland birds doesn’t happen behind a desk — it happens here, on the land.
